Well I am sitting here in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. I have about 4 hours until my flight back to the states. This has been quite an amazing adventure...being dropped off in a country I knew little about and where I didn't speak the language well... and making a life here for 6 weeks...I'm glad I had this opportunity. I met some pretty amazing people here...people in the group that came with me and also the people that live here. I rappeled into caves, played on the worlds prettiest beaches, danced to merengue and salsa and electronica till the wee hours of the morning, worked at a company where I wasnt allowed to speak English, hiked to a coffee plantation and drank the best coffee I have ever had in my life, swam under waterfalls, journeyed to small towns crammed on a bus, motorcycled to the beach, walked the marketplace, white water rafted, spent my down time with a Dominican family...I could go on and on...so many stories I have to tell...so many memories I have made.
Coming here...experiencing a different way of life...it makes me want to see the world even more. I think at times I get so caught up with my own life in College Station I lose the big picture...the grand scheme of things...
I'm not going to go as far and say that this trip was life changing...but it did and will have a great impact on my life.
Can't wait to be back in the states with family and friends...I have missed ya'll. | | |

| Grand Adventures. At this point in time, its what my life is all about. I'm 20 years old, in college, and things honestly couldn't be better. Yup, I have my ups and downs. The past few days I have been sick in bed, but for the most of the time life is just grand. I'm surrounded by good people and I have alot going for me. I guess you can say I am lucky, but in recent days I have started to believe that there really is no such thing as luck. I don't think things happen by chance. There has to be a bigger reason behind it all.
So here I am. If you didn't notice, this is the same journal that I had a while back...just changed it up some, got rid of the old entries. Just kind of starting over. I guess I just want a place that I can journal whats happening around me...hopefully keep it light...let the parental units know whats going on with that unruly son of theirs...and well, just be me.
Here's to Grand Adventures to come...
